I've had melasma for about seven years now. Gets worse as time passes (has gotten darker and has spread to new areas). My melasma isn't tied to pregnancy, as I've never been pregnant. It just started showing up one day. I kind of look like a raccoon with the area around my eyes my normal skin tone and my upper cheeks, cheeks, and temples hyperpigmented because of melasma. My job requires me to interact with lots of people every day, and I feel so self conscious in every, single interaction with another person. Also struggle every day with feelings of being unlovable because my skin looks so... unusual. I know melasma shouldn't affect the way I feel about myself so much, but this is just how I honestly feel.
During the last seven years, I've tried a few different laser treatments at other places and 4% hydroquinone prescribed by my doctor. So far nothing has helped.
About a year ago, I started going to Skin Perfect Brothers. The main treatment they recommended is Potenza (RF microneedling). So far I've had two Potenza sessions, and I'm planning to get a few more. I guess my melasma is super, super stubborn because it is putting up a valiant fight against Potenza, which apparently is pretty effective for many people with melasma. Even though I'm in the middle of my Potenza sessions and don't know if my melasma will improve noticeably by the end of all my Potenza sessions, I still want to comment on my experience with the employees at this place. They are kind, and you can tell they want to help you, not just make a buck off of you. They have been generous with their time and products and services with me. I think they really want to see me improve. Shout out to Helen and Rosa for taking care of me the past year. Thank you so much, Helen and Rosa, for helping me and making me feel less alone.
Summary: even if my melasma doesn't significantly improve by the end of my Potenza sessions, I can't say enough good things about the people at this place. Melasma is a difficult thing to manage and get under control, but the employees here will go the extra mile to help you. (YELP review)
